Nimble Fingered Poppy Bags Her Sister's Trophy - March 2007

A TALENTED youngster stole the crown from her own sister after impressing judges at a prestigious music festival.

Poppy Holbrook, 8, scooped first prize in the beginners solo piano competition at the Oswestry Youth Music Festival one year after her sister Albany, 10, won exactly the same title.

Both girls are pupils at the Shropshire School of Classical Music, based at Kingsland Grange School, in Shrewsbury.

School principal Christopher Giles said: "Poppy only joined the school this September but she's made excellent progress and her performance at the festival of 'The Cuckoo In The Woods' was perfect."

Proud mum, Kate Holbrook, said she was delighted the trophy would be staying in the family for another year.

She said: "We could hardly believe it when they announced Poppy had won the award. We're extremely proud of them both.

We're so glad the trophy will return to our house for another year. Now both girls will have it to remind them of their success."
